I\u2019ve been so busy!!<\/p>\n

Summer vacation has started, and \u201cKame-Rito,\u201d our nature-experience retreat, is packed every day!<\/p>\n

But as for me, Toyoshima\u2014the person many call \u201cthe Retreat Master\u201d (lol)\u2014
I always tell people that no matter how busy you are, you must<\/em> create time to return to yourself.<\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t take a full retreat day, even a small moment to reset\u2014slowing your breath, a short meditation, a \u201cmini-retreat\u201d woven into daily life\u2014is enough.
That\u2019s why I keep sharing with society: the busier you are, the more you need retreat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And I prove it with my own life.
On a busy day\u2026 I took the day off!! (lol)<\/p>\n

Honestly, among all the people working in hospitality, how many take a day off in the middle of a three-day holiday (July 20th)?
Probably just me.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019m serious.<\/p>\n

Before \u201cWork-style Reform,\u201d I\u2019ve always advocated for \u201cRest-style Reform.\u201d<\/strong>
I even wrote a book about how to rest.<\/p>\n

If the way we rest changes, the way we work will change naturally.
Instead of a work style full of self-sacrifice, I believe it\u2019s better to secure time to be yourself, reduce stress, rest wisely\u2014and that will ultimately improve work performance.<\/p>\n

I even told our retreat guests, \u201cI won\u2019t be here on the 20th, so could you enjoy the fish-catching experiences after check-out on the 21st instead?\u201d
And they kindly agreed.<\/p>\n

This time, I joined a yoga event in Gotemba, Shizuoka:
the \u201cZend\u014d Yoga Festa.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The venue was\u2014believe it or not\u2014a temple.
And its name is literally Arigatou-Temple<\/em>.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a large meditation hall, a proper zend\u014d for zazen, and we practiced yoga right inside.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been practicing yoga for a long time, and many instructors I\u2019ve met through past yoga events were here too.<\/p>\n

Arriving at Arigatou-Temple, I was drenched in sweat after climbing through the grounds.
A lot of people had gathered\u2014multiple studios and teachers hosting what felt like a major yoga festival for the whole Shizuoka yoga community.<\/p>\n

Since it was a yoga festival, there were many different styles:
chanting mantras, music-flow yoga, partner-based yoga, and more. I tried them all.<\/p>\n

The session that left the strongest impression was Meridian Yoga<\/strong>, based on Eastern medicine.
It connected well with the qigong I usually practice, and I found it deeply interesting.<\/p>\n

We could see Mt. Fuji in front of us\u2014well, only the lower part, since clouds covered the top.<\/p>\n

It had been a while since I took a personal retreat.
I must have been more tired than I realized.<\/p>\n

During the yoga sessions, I was so focused I didn\u2019t take a single picture.<\/p>\n

I only remember finishing all the classes and sitting with my instructor friend\u2014who was also one of the hosts\u2014talking about our impressions with that half-dreamy, deeply relaxed feeling in my head.<\/p>\n

The more I tried to put my impressions into words, the more they slipped away.<\/p>\n

What remained was not language, but sensation\u2014

And that\u2019s perfectly fine.
Because in retreats, what you feel before it becomes words is the most powerful part.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe body remembers, even when the mind doesn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maybe I\u2019m still doing the same thing children do when they get absorbed playing in the river\u2014
feeling \u201clife itself\u201d through raw, original experiences.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s my desk, surrounded by the \u201cvoices\u201d children wrote for me. (lol)
\u201cMidori-man\u201d\u2014the nickname the kids gave me during activities.<\/p>\n

While I guide adults through yoga and mindfulness retreats,
at Kame-Rito we host nature-experience retreats for families:
fish catching, insect hunting, stargazing, nighttime safari walks (lol).
The kids always write me messages afterward.<\/p>\n

Even though we\u2019re different in age,
if I can continue living through these original experiences\u2014
experiences felt through the body and remembered for a lifetime\u2014
and share that same world with the children,
there\u2019s nothing happier.<\/p>\n

And so, this summer break as well,
I\u2019m excited to offer stargazing, river play, beetle and stag beetle hunting, rare insect adventures, and many other \u201coriginal experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n

I promise to deliver things city life can never offer!<\/p>\n
